    How it works

    How to sell USD Coin

Selling USD Coin with Anytime Capital takes only a few minutes:

    1. Enter the amount of USD Coin you want to sell.
    2. Choose how you want to be paid — bank transfer, debit card, or one of the other payout methods.
    3. Match the network on the payout screen. USDC exists natively on several chains, and bridged versions on several more, and they are not interchangeable.
    4. Send your USDC to the address shown, then complete verification if you have not already.
    5. Receive your money.

Native USDC and bridged USDC are different tokens

Circle issues USDC natively on a growing list of chains, and each of those is redeemable with Circle directly. Separately, older bridged versions of USDC circulate on some networks — tokens minted by a bridge and backed by USDC locked elsewhere, often labelled USDC.e or similar. They usually trade at parity and usually swap one-for-one, but they are not the same asset and some venues will not accept them. If your wallet shows a USDC variant with a suffix, check what you actually hold before you send it.

What backs USDC, and who says so

Circle holds reserves for USDC in cash and short-dated US Treasuries, largely through a government money market fund, and publishes monthly reserve reports from an independent accounting firm. Circle is a licensed money transmitter in the United States and, since 2024, operates under the European Union's MiCA stablecoin regime as well. Eligible institutional customers can redeem USDC with Circle at par; for everyone else, selling it for dollars — here or elsewhere — is the exit.

    Where USDC actually lives

Ethereum still holds a large share of USDC, but Solana and Base carry a great deal of the day-to-day payment volume because the fees are a fraction of a cent and the confirmation is near-instant. That matters when you are selling: sending USDC from Solana costs almost nothing and confirms in under a minute, while the same transfer on Ethereum mainnet is measured in dollars and minutes. If you have a choice of where to send from and the payout screen offers it, the cheaper chain is the obvious one.

The tax position is the same as any other crypto sale

USDC sits at a dollar, so it is easy to treat a sale as moving money between two accounts. For US tax purposes it is not — converting USDC to dollars is a disposal of property, and it is reportable even when the gain rounds to nothing. Keep the record. If you have been paid in USDC for work, the receipt was an income event separately from the sale, and the two get reported differently; that is a conversation for your accountant, not for us.

Which network should I send USDC on?

USDC is issued on several networks and they are not interchangeable — the address format, the fee and the confirmation time all change with the chain, and sending on the wrong one can put the funds beyond recovery. Match the network shown on the payout screen exactly. Solana (SPL) is usually the cheapest route: A base fee of 0.000005 SOL — a fraction of a cent — plus an optional priority fee that keeps typical transfers around $0.001–$0.05 in 2025–2026

    • Ethereum (ERC-20) — confirms in 30 seconds – 5 minutes. Ethereum is USDC's home network; Circle issues natively here first
    • Solana (SPL) — confirms in under 1 minute. Solana is one of USDC's largest networks — Circle issues natively, and most Solana payment apps settle in it
    • Polygon (Native (Circle-issued)) — confirms in under 5 minutes. Circle issues native USDC on Polygon (since October 2023); older 'USDC.e' is the bridged legacy version
    • Avalanche (Native (Circle-issued)) — confirms in under 2 minutes. Circle issues native USDC on Avalanche; institutional settlement uses it heavily
    • Stellar (Stellar asset) — confirms in 3–10 seconds. Circle issues native USDC on Stellar; it powers remittance corridors (e.g. MoneyGram's crypto cash-out network)
    • Arbitrum (Native (Circle-issued)) — confirms in seconds (exchange credits usually under 10 minutes). Circle issues native USDC on Arbitrum (since June 2023); legacy bridged 'USDC.e' still circulates

What does it cost to send USDC?

The fee is charged by the network, not by us, and it is paid in that network's own coin — so you need a little of it sitting in the same wallet. On Ethereum you pay in ETH: Usually under $1 for an ETH transfer and $0.50–$3 for an ERC-20 token transfer in 2025–2026, after the 2024 Dencun upgrade pushed activity to cheaper L2s; demand spikes still multiply that. On Solana you pay in SOL: A base fee of 0.000005 SOL — a fraction of a cent — plus an optional priority fee that keeps typical transfers around $0.001–$0.05 in 2025–2026. On Polygon you pay in POL: Usually well under $0.01 per transfer in 2025–2026 — among the cheapest ways to move USDT or USDC. See /fees-and-limits for what Anytime Capital charges.
