    How it works

    How to sell Polygon

Selling Polygon with Anytime Capital takes only a few minutes:

    1. Enter the amount of Polygon you want to sell.
    2. Choose how you want to be paid — bank transfer, debit card, or one of the other payout methods.
    3. If you still hold MATIC rather than POL, migrate it first. Send on Polygon PoS unless the payout screen names a different network.
    4. Send your POL to the address shown, then complete verification if you have not already.
    5. Receive your money.

MATIC became POL, and some balances still have not moved

Polygon replaced MATIC with POL as its native token starting in September 2024. On Polygon PoS the swap happened automatically at a one-to-one rate, so a balance held there simply changed name. MATIC held elsewhere — on Ethereum mainnet, on another chain, or in a wallet nobody has opened since — did not, and has to be migrated through the official contract before it is POL. Exchanges converted customer balances on their own timelines. If your wallet still displays MATIC, sort that out before you start a sale: sending MATIC where POL is expected does not work.

Which Polygon network you are sending from

Polygon is now several things. Polygon PoS is the long-running sidechain most people mean and where most POL lives; there are also zk-based chains in the Polygon ecosystem that use their own bridges. A POL balance on one is not automatically available on another. Check the network on the payout screen, and if your POL is somewhere else, bridge it back before sending. Polygon PoS addresses are Ethereum-style 0x addresses, which is exactly why this is easy to get wrong — the address format alone tells you nothing about which chain it belongs to.

POL is the gas and the stake

Transaction fees on Polygon PoS are paid in POL, and validators secure the chain by staking it. Fees are usually well under a cent, which is the point of the network, but they still have to be paid — a wallet with tokens and no POL cannot move them. POL was also designed to be staked across multiple Polygon chains at once rather than just one, which is the substantive change the rename was made to accommodate rather than a cosmetic rebrand.

Why Polygon carries so much stablecoin volume

Polygon PoS gave Ethereum-compatible tooling at a fraction of the cost years before layer 2s were mature, and a great deal of payment and gaming activity settled there as a result. It remains one of the cheapest routes for moving USDC and USDT, which means a lot of the POL people hold was acquired as gas for something else rather than as a position. That shows up in how it gets sold: often a leftover balance after the actual business is done.

How long does it take to send POL to us?

Polygon settles on Polygon, where a transfer typically confirms in under 5 minutes. Polygon PoS produces a block about every 2 seconds and reached ~5-second finality with its 2024 upgrades. Wallet-to-wallet transfers feel instant; exchanges typically credit deposits within a few minutes. We start your payout once the transfer has confirmed on-chain, so this is the part of a sale you are usually waiting on.

What does it cost to send POL?

That is a Polygon network fee, paid to the network rather than to us: Usually well under $0.01 per transfer in 2025–2026 — among the cheapest ways to move USDT or USDC. See /fees-and-limits for what Anytime Capital charges.

What do POL addresses look like?

Standard address: 0x + 40 hex characters. Identical format to Ethereum — same address works on both networks, but they are separate networks Check the first and last characters against the address on the payout screen before you send — a Polygon transfer cannot be reversed once it is confirmed.
