Mercury is excellent startup banking
Mercury earned its place as the default first account for a lot of startups. ACH and domestic wires are free, USD international wires are free (with an optional $15 to cover intermediary fees), and the interface is built for software companies rather than branch banking. Plans run from $0 to Plus at $35 and Pro at $350 a month; another Mercury page shows $29.90 and $299, likely for annual billing.
Mercury describes itself as a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank, with banking services through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A. and sweep coverage of up to $5 million across up to 20 banks. In April 2026 the OCC conditionally approved Mercury Bank, N.A.; FDIC and Federal Reserve approvals were still pending, and Mercury still operates through partner banks.
