Roundup
The best business bank accounts for small businesses and startups
The new business accounts are fintech platforms built on partner banks, and each is strongest at something different: Mercury at clean startup banking, Brex and Ramp at spend management, Slash at card-heavy operations and stablecoin dollars. Anytime Capital takes card payments and stablecoins today through Anytime Capital Payments. Here is how the five compare on the things a growing business runs into first.

- Mercury

- Brex

- Ramp

- Slash

Updated October 2026. Figures from each company's published fees, terms and filings, and the public sources named on this page.
What is the best business bank account for a small business?
It depends on what the account has to do besides hold money. For a startup that wants polished banking and free domestic wires, Mercury. For corporate cards and expense policy at scale, Brex (now part of Capital One) or Ramp, which requires $25,000 in the bank to start. For card-heavy operators and founders outside the US who need dollars, Slash. If the business also needs to take card payments and stablecoins, Anytime Capital does both today: 2.75% + 30¢ card processing and USDC and USDT paid straight to its own wallet. Its business checking, and local rails in 71+ countries.
How we judged them
Getting paid
Whether the account can take card payments itself, or needs a separate processor whose payouts then take days to arrive.
Paying abroad
Local rails land in minutes in the recipient's currency; international wires take days and cost both ends.
Stablecoins and crypto
Whether the account can hold, receive and send digital dollars, and convert other assets, without a separate exchange login.
Fit and eligibility
Plans, minimum balances and who the product is built for, from sole proprietors to multi-entity companies.

The picks
1. Best for getting paid, paying abroad and crypto in one account
Anytime CapitalA fintech company, not a bank. Today: Anytime Capital Payments at 2.75% + 30¢ (2.5% + 30¢ for the first 90 days), paid out to your bank, USDC and USDT paid straight to the business's own wallet, and a crypto desk for the business. It does not try to be a full spend-management suite: for complex expense policy across many entities, Brex or Ramp go deeper.
See business checking2. Best for clean startup banking with free domestic wires
Mercury
Polished US-dollar banking with free ACH and domestic wires, sweep coverage up to $5M across partner banks, and plans at $0, $35 and $350 a month. Non-USD wires carry a 1% FX fee and card payments on invoices run through Stripe at Stripe's rates. It holds no stablecoins; the OCC conditionally approved a Mercury national bank charter in April 2026.
Mercury vs Anytime Capital3. Best for corporate cards and spend policy at scale
Brex
A Capital One company since April 2026, with corporate cards, expense policy, travel and a business account whose Vault spreads deposits for up to $6M in FDIC coverage. Free wires to 100+ countries, card FX up to 3%. Brex announced USDC payments in September 2025; we could not confirm general availability. No card-acquiring product.
Brex vs Anytime Capital4. Best for AP automation and spend control
Ramp
Spend management, bill pay and procurement with strong automation, a free plan and Plus at $15 per user per month plus a platform fee. Stablecoin Accounts launched in July 2026 hold USDC and USDT with no conversion fee and rewards of up to 3.25%. It needs $25,000 in a business bank account and does not serve sole proprietors. No card-acquiring product.
Ramp vs Anytime Capital5. Best for card-heavy operators and non-US founders
Slash
Many cards and sub-accounts for operators who split spend by campaign or client, a $25-a-month Pro plan with free FedNow and RTP, and a stablecoin-backed Global USD account open to businesses in 100+ countries without a US bank account. International wires cost $25 and take 2 to 9 business days. Invoicing, but no card-acquiring product.
Slash vs Anytime Capital
None of these is a bank, and that is normal
Mercury and Slash describe themselves as financial technology companies, not banks, with deposits held at partner banks; Brex's business account is provided by Column N.A., and Ramp's banking services by First Internet Bank of Indiana. Anytime Capital is a fintech company, not a bank, and its banking services are provided by licensed partners. What matters is the protection each account describes, and what the platform does on top.
If you take card payments, count the processor too
Mercury, Brex, Ramp and Slash do not process card payments for you (Mercury routes invoice card payments through Stripe), so a business that sells online pays a separate processor and waits for its payouts. Anytime Capital processes cards at 2.75% + 30¢ ($3.05 on $100) and pays out to the bank account you already have, instant where eligible. Payouts straight into an Anytime Capital business account.
Stablecoins have arrived in business banking
In 2026 this changed quickly. Ramp launched Stablecoin Accounts in July; Slash runs a Global USD account backed by its own stablecoin; Brex announced USDC payments in 2025; Mercury's accounts still hold only fiat. Anytime Capital takes USDC and USDT at checkout straight to the business's own wallet, where it can hold them, send them or sell them for dollars, and its crypto desk buys and sells other assets for the business.
